Priority VS Bandwidth
Priority and Bandwidth at our QOS are often used in the two orders, but they are exactly what the difference between
Priority at cisco official documentation has been so often described: reserved bandwidth
Bandwidth: Minimum bandwidth guarantee
One is set aside, one is a guaranteed minimum bandwidth, the vague very vague, almost CISCO themselves are difficult to distinguish.
In fact, both have very large difference, but not on the bandwidth, Priority target VOICE VIDEO, such as delay-sensitive data, enhance the response speed network applications.
Bandwidth on both of course, there is minimal difference:
Priority: minimum bandwidth guarantee, the maximum guaranteed bandwidth, low latency, speed limits (build-policier)
Bandwidth: the minimum bandwidth guarantee, no guarantee that the highest bandwidth, no delay guarantee, unlimited-speed mechanism
We can not accurately summed up as: priority refers to the maximum bandwidth, Bandwidth refers to the minimum bandwidth
Are two circumstances:
1, there is congestion: priority of bandwidth is guaranteed, bandwidth is the bandwidth to be guaranteed
2, no congestion: priority to improve bandwidth, bandwidth could also improve the bandwidth occupied by other spare bandwidth. On official documents are written so, but in fact take up a priority even if other spare bandwidth, occupied by many of these did not before bandwidth low-latency characteristics, can only belong to the normal package, there is no significance.
No matter what the circumstances, as long as there is spare bandwidth, will be sharing other types of traffic.
